Sorry I've been driving you guys who keep track of such things insane with the userpic uploads. I'm a bit OCD about them and how they're arranged and such sometimes. I don't really know why. But this last upload has things to my satisfaction; I shall not be uploading anymore icons for a while now, I think. mood: embarrassed |

I've been wanting to know where the shot that is my LJ background/default icon was taken since I first came across the pic on a JigZone puzzle. Anyone that can give me any info on where this is will get...I dunno. Something. My everlasting gratitude and stuff. I'm really curious. mood: curious music: Gordon Lightfoot: Carefree Highway |

Finally one of these quizzes that gets something right about me! </form> Northern. Whether you have the world famous Inland North accent of the Great Lakes area, or the radio-friendly sound of upstate NY and western New England, your accent is what used to set the standard for American English pronunciation (not much anymore now that the Inland North sounds like it does).
If you are not from the North, you are probably one of the following: (a) A Southerner who hates Southern accents and tries really hard to "talk right"; or (b) A New Yorker or New Jerseyan who doesn't have the full accent Take this quiz now - it's easy! I am, in fact, from Michigan, which is about as central to the Great Lakes area as you can get. ^^ mood: amused |

My little girl is doing well. She's much more settled in and low stress than she was at this time last year, so she's doing much better(except for tending to retain a shed in the corner of her eyelid). No signs of sickness, lethargy or the general loss of weight that had me fretting to pieces last winter and earned her eight seperate trips to the vet. Today she got tile put into her tank. This is the first time she's had a hard(non-paper or reptile carpet) substrate(yes she was on sand for a bit, I don't do that anymore and never will again) and I think she's enjoying the fact that her claws click on the floor, because she's currently busy running from one end of the tank to the other. There's still a small border of paper towel that I have to get the remaining tile cut to fit because I mismeasured, but I'm happy to see she seems to be taking to it well. She's also just as stubborn as ever when it comes to holding in her poop until you're holding HER. Fortunately, she seems to choose other members of the household besides me as her favored toilet. XD Her third birthday's coming up in a couple months, and I can't believe it. Seems like I just got her yesterday...and she was such a tiny thing. She fit in the palm of my hand without curling up. Now she's a sprawling eight inch monster that likes to eat my fingers along with the worms when I handfeed her. I love her so much. My next project is to try and get some videos of her tailwaving when she's in territorial/aggressive mood. So look for those in the future! mood: chipper |

I swear Amtrak could not PLAN to make me this annoyed. I was out running some errands today and since I was driving past the station I thought I'd stop and see if there was a train scheduled. And, as it turned out, there was one due in five minutes. So I went out onto the platform with my camera and waited. And waited. In bitter cold weather with a stiff north wind which the station platform funnels into a nice howling gale. I stayed out there until even my organs were cold, and then finally figured the train must have come and gone early and gave up and went home. And guess, just guess what I heard the very instant I opened the car door in my driveway(which is too far away from the station to get back in time)? AUGH. This is like, the second time this has happened. mood: annoyed |

In memory of family and friends who have lost the battle with cancer; and in support of the ones who continue to conquer it! Post this on your LJ if you know someone who has or had cancer. 93% won't copy and paste this. Will you?For two aunts who beat it, and two aunts, an uncle and my grandfather who didn't. And several friends on both sides of that equation. All my love, always. mood: sad |

I have a new favorite song now. Not only are the lyrics awesome, and the song beautiful, but they used an actual marching band and not dressed up actors for the video. As a former marching band geek myself this brings back happy, happy nostalgia. I kinda miss those days. Also, Swamp Thing band peoples. AWESOME. Can't find anywhere that'll let me embed it so here's the link: http://vimeo.com/8718627mood: nostalgic |

So, in the interests of actually sticking to a resolution, I've decided to narrow the focus of my art down a bit this year, instead of chipping at it willy-nilly and accomplishing nothing like I usually do. With that in mind, I'm going to be concentrating on drawing dragons. Oh, that's not all I'll draw all year, of course, but it's going to be my main focus. I'm woefully lacking in dragon skills, and I've been letting them further atrophy by whining about them instead of practicing. You'll see me drawing reptiles, too, for scale patterns and anatomy, as well as some other animals and animal parts that will hopefully help for a more 'realistic' look overall. I'm not promising daily posts. That never works out. But I'll post sketches when I finish them and completed works of art the same. Hopefully by the end of this year I'll be able to look back and actually see a course of improvement. And feel free to critique what I post, as well. I know I've been oversensitive to such in the past, but since I can't learn without it...well, I'll just swallow my pride this year and not only expect it, but ASK for it. I need to go back to basics, instead of trying to jump into a full world-creation I'm in no way ready for. Here's hoping that this will work, this time. mood: determined |

Here's to a great New Year and a promising New Decade! Hope you all had a good one, and that your year ahead will bring you everything you desire. And that you manage to stick to those pesky resolutions. >.> This year mine are: 1. Stick with my decisions and stop second guessing myself every thirty seconds 2. Keep losing weight and tone up some of this flab 3. Try to have a better year than the last two 4. Draw more And that's it, really. Night y'all. I'm at the age where New Year's partying means trying to keep my eyes pried open until midnight, so I can go "WOOHOO!" once and then go to bed. XD mood: hopeful |

I'm going to trim down my firendslist some. I have so many contacts and communities and such that it takes me too long in a day to get through LJ. Please don't be offended if I remove you. It doesn't mean I don't like you, or you're boring, or anything like that. Chances are it's because my interests have drifted enough in the last year that we no longer have much in common, that's all. Happy New Year to everyone, also. Resolutions will come later, if I make any this year. mood: contemplative |

| Wish List Meme |
|
|

What the heck. I dont want much, anyway. Step 1
Make a post in your journal containing your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want. If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa could get in touch with you.
Step 2
Surf around your friends list (or friend's friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream for free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special. My List:
1. Icons of Alizara for LJ. Seriously. Any and all moods or expressions welcome. She's just a white western quadrupedal dragon with solid red eyes(no whites or pupils), spikes all over her head, neck and back, and tightly curled but sticking straight out horns.
Ref pic: 2. Any other art of Zara, or Zara and Neitu(black western quadrupedal dragon, no spikes, spines, horns or earfins).
3. People to fullfil as many of other people's wishlists as they can. I have enough possessions. I just want to see some happiness for other people this year.And...that's it. I don't have ten things I want to ask for this year. It's a rough holiday for me, so I'd rather see the cheer spread around to others. ^^ If you have any questions or want further ref pics for art, email me at: Alizara@gmail.com mood: thoughtful |
